THEATRE CONSULTANT

Stage Right Theatre Consultants (SRTC) are a theatre design practice in its third year led by Flip Tanner. As a regional consultant with global experience, we currently have a range of projects we’re working on within the UK and overseas. The range of services we provide include strategy and leadership for cultural projects as well as the typical services such as venue design and technical system design. Venues for performance are complex buildings and we pride ourselves on our client listening skills, our excellent collaborative way of working, our diverse skillset as well as our curious and innovative approach.

 

With our recent project wins, we are expanding and looking to take on a Theatre Consultant. We are keen to hear from experienced theatre consultants as well as experienced professionals in the industry that have transferable skills.

 

The ideal applicant will:

 

  • Understand and be interested by the world of theatre

  • Have an excellent grasp of what makes a successful Theatre/Concert Hall/Opera House

  • Be great at listening to the needs of our clients and providing expert and timely advice

  • Know how to manage projects and can work well autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Knowledge of technical theatre equipment and/or theatre design

  • Demonstrate a personal interest in arts & culture

  • Experience of consultancy or equivalent experience in a collaborative design role

  • Be open and curious to learning new technologies and skills

 

Depending on the applicant’s experience and their career direction, the role can be full or part-time, and working from home with flexible hours is part of the package. We operate a flexible working environment in terms of hours, location and intermittent project site visits, and the salary will reflect the applicant’s experience and their desired time.

 

The ideal applicant will have the following skills:

 

  • AutoCAD or Vectorworks

  • Bluebeam or Acrobat

  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook

 

The Role:

 

  • Working in the areas of design, planning, stage engineering, audio, video as well as other technical systems

  • Assist in developing design concepts for theatre planning and equipment systems

  • Assist in preparing theatre plan and section drawings

  • Curation and development of stage reports

  • Functionality planning including FOH and BOH

  • Project management and leadership as well as working alongside other team members
