The Albany Theatre

COVENTRY, UK

To facilitate a major contribution to Coventry’s year as “City of Culture 2021”, the Albany Theatre will be undergoing a major redevelopment. Construction of phase one is currently in progress, with phase two at the design and feasibility stage.

Originally built and used as lecture theatre from 1935, phase 1 develops the vacant shell space, creates a double height foyer and three new studios as well as the creation of a prestigious and attractive new entrance, fully in-keeping with the beautiful former college building. Future phases expand and refurbish the rear stage, add further studios and renovate the existing 600-seat theatre and related technical systems. Flip Tanner's role is predominately client side offering project director services with the SRTC team supporting on seat design layouts and stage engineering.
