Stage Right is a theatre design consultancy now in its sixth year and led by Flip Tanner. Following nearly twenty years with the Royal Shakespeare Company and work for two of the world’s leading theatre consultants and acousticians, Flip has amassed a significant number of credits and established a great network of talented designers and engineers to collaborate together on venue design projects.
Oldham Theatre Workshop
A new 75-100 seat studio space to be used for performances, as well as a second studio for rehearsals and workshops. The project formed part of the Oldham Old Library renovation.

In its sixth year of theatre design practice, Stage Right has established a great team of talented designers and engineers to collaborate with.
As well as our permanent employees, we also have members of the team who continue to practice within the theatre industry in roles such as scenic and costume design, technical design and lighting design. Feasibility & Business Planning
We provide arts management advice on the viability of your project, alongside cost estimates, footprint, heritage and planning requirements. We can also offer a fundraising strategy and business modelling to secure funding and early project feasibility.
Venue & Auditorium Design
We work with architects and engineers on the layout of the auditorium, backstage and front of house areas to achieve efficiency across the venue. We ensure the seating and technical provision is suitable for the range of art forms and events the theatre will host.
Stage Engineering, Stage Lighting and AV Design
With our extensive industry experience, we advise on the design and integration of stage engineering systems, the stage lighting infrastructure positions, equipment and electrical load capacity, and the theatre’s sound and communication system.
