Isles of Scilly Museum & Cultural Centre

The project includes the restoration and extension of the C19 Town Hall to provide a new home for the Isles of Scilly Museum and an exciting multi-purpose performance venue. The venue will host a wide range of activities including theatre, touring shows, musical performances ranging from folk gigs to choral and classical concerts, cinema, festivals, and events. The main space will also convert to flat floor for community functions, a weekly market, and a daily audio-visual presentation for the Museum tours. It will be the only venue on the Islands where larger scale assembly and public performance can take place. Our brief for this project also has the interesting challenge of only specifying equipment that can be repaired and maintained without relying on support from the mainland. Part of the solution to this has been solved by working with local chandlery suppliers, as the island has resident skills in the sailing industry.
