Marlborough College Concert Hall
Marlborough, UK
The 600-seat Concert Hall is the principal memorial to Marlborough College's 749 men who gave their lives in World War I. It was opened by H.R.H. The Duke of Connaught on 23rd May 1925. The refurbished venue is a world-class performing arts facility that has now been equipped with refurbished stage systems as well as a new foyer, increased capacity, a widened proscenium, improved sightlines, an enlarged stage, along with new dressing rooms and support spaces. As team leader for Fisher Dachs Associates (FDA) Flip collaborated with Diamond Schmitt Architects who were the lead designers collaborating with Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt. The hall is home to a wide range of activities including school assemblies and artistic performances. The space can now be used to great effect for both drama and music, as the acoustics, sightlines, with an enhanced proscenium opening, developed back-of-house facilities, and audience comfort have all been greatly improved.
