Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre

This project began its life when Flip was with Fisher Dachs Associates (FDA) and the project followed him to Charcoalblue LLP during collaboration with Zarch and Radian Acoustics. Wild Rice were keen to draw on Flip's experience of the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in executing Singapore's first thrust stage. The project includes a 358-seat theatre and a studio/rehearsal space that can accommodate 60 seats in flexible formats. As well as all the backstage support space for both theatres the venue includes offices as the centre of operation for the Wild Rice team. Working in a very tight project footprint, we were able to provide appropriate support spaces as well as designing a beautiful playhouse which has won several awards, including The Presidents Design Award by Design Singapore and the Urban Redevelopment Authority Singapore
