The Rose Theatre
Southampton, UK
Stage Right were appointed by Barton Peveril College to assist architects Stride Treglown in the re-imagining of their existing and dated thrust theatre into a versatile, typical 'end-on' space for dance, musical theatre, jazz and large lecture presentations. Stage Right assisted with both theatre advice and consultancy to the wider design team as well as designing new lighting, sound and AV infrastructure to support today's modern technical production expectations operated by the colleges skilled technical staff. A key part of the brief for SRTC was to provide a room that could quickly and regularly transform from a theatre supporting the college's full scale productions, to a large open rehearsal and teaching room to then a fully populated space for large capacity presentations and gatherings. SRTC relished the opportunity to help create a new, versatile and state of the art performance space to help nurture and showcase tomorrow's performers.
Project highlights:
- Increased seating capacity from 265 to 375 with full flat floor
- A new touchscreen-controlled AV, house light and work light control system including quick and easy preset control of house lights including colour changing feature wall.
